Sometimes you love a trip… except for one stop. Our AI needed to adapt, instantly, without making users start over.

The Problem

Sometimes users loved a trip… except for one city. Maybe they’d already been. Maybe it didn’t interest them. Maybe it just wasn’t the vibe.

We had curated routes like “London, Paris, Madrid”—but what if someone wanted “London, Amsterdam, Copenhagen” instead? The challenge was to offer smart, pre-built variants of each trip without crowding the UI or making users start over.

The Challenge

We explored inline edits, toggle menus, and side-panel variants. But the most natural interaction was… conversation.

  • User says: “I’ve already been to Canal Saint-Martin.”

  • AI responds: “Got it — let’s swap it for Parc Monceau and reroute you through scenic streets.”

  • Map and itinerary update instantly.

The Solution

  • Conversational input triggers curated swaps, no typing exact place names required.

  • Map updates in real time, visually confirming the change.

  • Descriptive, human-like responses keep the AI feeling like a travel companion, not a search engine.

  • Maintains the “story” of the trip while adapting to the user’s needs.

Reflection

This project reinforced that flexibility is key, but it has to feel curated. The magic wasn’t just in letting users change their trips, it was in how effortless and human it felt.

The Problem

Travelers often want small tweaks, not a whole new trip. Maybe they’ve already been somewhere, maybe it’s not their vibe.

Traditional trip planners force a restart or a dense filter menu, neither feels smooth.

We needed a way for users to just say what they wanted and have the itinerary update itself, staying curated and cohesive.

The Challenge

We explored inline edits, toggle menus, and side-panel variants. But the most natural interaction was… conversation.
